The University

Crimean Federal University (also known as “V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University” or “Medical Academy named after S.I. Georgievsky of Vernadsky CFU” or “Crimea State Medical University” or “CSMU”) is one of the most prominent medical universities established in 1918 in Simferopol, Crimea.  

More than a century-old university has always delivered excellence in medical education, training, and research and keeps pace with innovation in the field of medicine with its modern infrastructure and expert team of highly qualified academic staff and researchers.  The University places special emphasis on students' involvement In research and publishes its own Scientific Journals. 

The University started admitting international students in 1961. Until now, thousands of students from more than 100 countries have qualified as doctors from the University. The University continues to accept applications for admission to its MBBS program from international students. Now, every year about 400 international students are admitted to the MBBS Program of the University. Presently, about 4,600 students are studying at the University out of whom more than 1,600 hails from around 45 different countries around the world.

To help its students get familiar with international practices, CFU organizes international scientific conferences, seminars, and workshops on the campus. CFU students also get the opportunity to work with the students of other universities on collaborative research projects, learn from foreign lecturers, and meet foreign delegations visiting the University, all thanks to the international association of Crimean Federal University.

To give life to its comprehensive research programs, the University has state-of-the-art medical research labs and carry out research on about 50 scientific themes in a year. Patents obtained out of the CFU research has helped a lot in practical healthcare. Students pursuing medicine at CFU get this rare opportunity to be a part of such research work and make a difference in the world of healthcare.

For the betterment of the health of the local people, the University operates 38 clinical bases in the Crimea region where CFU students get the opportunity to get hands-on clinical training and involve in patient-care. The University is well-known for its medical and healthcare programs designed for the support of rural health and upliftment of health in Crimea. Students' involvement in these programs ensures that they develop empathy and master requisite skills and expertise to become competent healthcare professionals. 

Appreciating the academic excellence of the University, the International Education Society conferred the University AA rank which indicates “Top Institution That Is Internationally Known And Recognized.” The University is well-recognized by international medical authorities and institutions worldwide including listing in World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS), certification by Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), and approval by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Medical Council of Canada (MCC).  

To make the admission process easy for international students, CFU partners with many organizations worldwide. For Indian students who have qualified NEET, the University offers an opportunity for direct admission to 6-Year MBBS Program.

Student Life

Situated in Simferopol, Crimean Federal University offers a delightful student life. Students of  Crimean Federal University remember the time spent at the university as the best years of their life. 

Home to students from different countries worldwide, students at CFU benefit from cultural diversity and enjoy the various celebrations organized at the campus on occasion of national, international, religious, and national holidays. A few of the prominent celebrations include Independence Day, Diwali, Holi, Ramadan, Christmas, New Year, Mother’s Day, International Women’s Day, and University’s Food Festival. 

For the organization of functions, the University hs dedicated Houe of Culture which is well equipped with audio and video technologies and can shelter more than 700 people. 

For all its students, the University provides hostel facility equipped with modern amenities. In the hostel, the students can access all services required for daily student life including mess, laundry, internet, telephone and banking services. 

For the recreation of students and to take care of their other interests, extra-curricular activities like dance, sports, and theatre are also organized on the University Campus. Students are free to join such activities and play sports of their choice including swimming, basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, football, chess, Aikido, and golf. CFU has one of the largest sports facilities in Crimea and arranges different kinds of sports competitions for the students. 

The University has preserved its glorious history and heritage inside built-in museums. Visiting these museums, students can get a glimpse into the former time and achievements of their institution and its alumni. To make international students familiar with the local culture and traditions, the University also organizes trips to nearby towns and natural attractions which is a very refreshing and learning experience for the students. 

Residing at the university, the students can also explore the Simferopol city, which offers plenty of unique things to enjoy. The city is well-connected by various means of transportation and millions of tourists visiting the city keep it vibrant throughout the year.
