The University

Originally founded in 1804 as Kazan Imperial University by the Russian Emperor Alexander I, Kazan Federal University is the 10th oldest university and 3rd Emperor university in Russia. Throughout the centuries of its existence, the University has developed its reputation in the world on the back of the proven systems of teaching and innovations and success stories of its Alumni in various disciplines. The University has preserved its heritage in various museums available on campus and open to all students and visitors of the University. 

In 2015, the university ranked 4th among Russian universities as per the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

Kazan Imperial University has students from over 100 countries and is acknowledged as the Center of Academic Excellence for its contribution to research, association with international academic institutions, and world-class learning facilities for students.

The University has nearly 4,000 faculty members to teach its nearly 44,000 students. For collaboration, professors and students from other universities and institutions are also invited for seminars, research programs, and events participation. 

To help the students perform research and get quality medical education, a Medical Simulation Center is also created, which includes a hospital model for hands-on training of the students in a simulated environment. The Institute offers students with access to high-level equipped laboratories and in-house medical training centers.  

To develop the academic horizon of its students, Kazan Federal University has its well-known Nikolai Lobachevsky Scientific Library, which is called the gem of the University. With a 200-year history, the library houses a collection of over 50,00,000 books, which include 1,50,000 very rare and old volumes and 3,000 rare books. By size, the scientific library of Kazan Federal University is one of the top 10 libraries in Russia.

Kazan Federal University is not only known for its quality education but also its vibrant culture and sports activities on the campus. Throughout the year, students volunteer to arrange festive celebrations, sports events, and cultural programs, including the most cherished Student Spring Festival!

Presently, about 1,700 students studying medicine in Russia at the Kazan Federal University. For easy student integration, cooperation, and collaboration in research activities and events, the University has the Students Council in place, which organizes different kinds of events and activities for students ranging from academic to extra-curricular. 

Kazan Federal University’s Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology offers a 6-Year MBBS Program.  The program is available in English as well as Russian languages. Kazan Federal University is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and duly approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI). MBBS degree is awarded on the completion of the 6-Year medical program, and it is recognized by the Medical Council of India. 

Kazan Federal University is an international University and accepts application for admission from students worldwide. For students from India who have qualified NEET, direct admissions are provided to the 6-Year program for MBBS in Russia.

Kazan Federal University is situated in Kazan city, and its students get the opportunity to enjoy everything this metropolitan city has to offer.

Sophisticated offers of Kazan include cultural theatres, historic cathedrals, astonishing human-made architecture including more than 40 palaces, museums, vibrant restaurants and cafes, concert halls, libraries, and of course, exciting shopping centers. 

Kazan city is home to about 1.2 million people and a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers an ethnic mix of history, art, culture, and cuisines. Living expenses in Kazan city are significantly lower in comparison to cities in countries like America or Canada. That makes life in Kazan easier for students with limited economic means. The city is the education hub with nearly 2 lac students from more than 60 countries.

For traveling in Kazan, students don’t face any problems as the city is well connected with various means of transportation, including buses, metro, railways, and river ports. 

For the easy living arrangement of the students, Kazan Federal University provides a fully managed hostel and mess facility at its campus nicknamed “Universiade Village.” Depending on the preference of the students, they can opt for separate or shared hostel rooms. The campus provides ample facilities to take care of the daily life needs of the students. The campus has eleven sports complexes and also serves as a guesthouse for international visitors. 

Living in Kazan, students enjoy different weathers with the warmest month of July when the temperature can be as high as 20°C and the coldest month of January when the temperature can be as low as −10 °C.
