The University

Established in 1935 in the Kursk city of Russia, Kursk State Medical University is a leading and one of the oldest medical universities in Russia. In over eight decades of its existence, more than 35,000 healthcare professionals have graduated from the University. 

June 30, 1940 marked a historic day for the University when it organized its first graduation ceremony for a total of 186 medical graduates. Now, it has a strong team of more than 700 professors highly qualified in their respective specialization. 

To deliver world-class medical education, University adapts modern techniques of teaching including computers, multimedia, and simulation. Classes are organized in small size to facilitate student-teacher dialogue and personalized learning experience. 

The Library of Kursk State Medical University is as old as the University itself. Now, it provides access to over 6,00,000 publications and welcomes over 3,00,000 visits in a year.Access to the library is free for University as well as external students. 

In 2007, Kursk State Medical University adopted a Quality Management System to align its quality of education with international standards. Now, the education system of the University is certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

To involve students in research projects, the University provides access to various medical laboratories equipped with modern equipment. Students also participate in the regional and international educational and scientific conferences and exhibitions organized by University to facilitate guidance from industry experts and exchange of latest research among inter-university students.

For hands-on clinical training, the Center of Practical Training of Students of the University maintains seven clinical bases. During clinical training, students interact directly with the patients under the expert supervision of doctors which provides great practical exposure. For a more diverse clinical experience, students also undergo clinical training at affiliated hospitals and clinics of foreign medical universities.

For helping international students learn Russian and get familiar with the new culture, the University’s Center of International Education and Language Communication organizes language classes and cultural trips and tours. Also, Kursk State Medical University claims to be the first medical university in Russia that began teaching in English for international students. Every year, about 1000 new students are admitted to the medical programs offered by the University. Presently, the University has around 2000 international students from about 50 different countries, including students, making it a global medical education hub.

For student exchange programs and enhanced opportunities for students on a global scale, Kursk State Medical University has cooperation agreements with medical universities in other countries, including the United States, UK, Australia, and Canada.

University Placement Office helps the students easily get employment opportunities after their medical graduation with its Annual Job Fair in collaboration with potential employers.  

Kursk State Medical University is well-recognized nationally as well as internationally. Kursk State Medical University is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), United States of America. Kursk State Medical University is also approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Medical Council of Canada. The University offers a 6-Year Program for MBBS in Russia, for local as well as international students. Medical aspirants from India who have qualified NEET can apply for direct admission to the MBBS Program of Kursk State Medical University.

Student Life

To provide affordable, safe, and comfortable accommodation, the University operates 6 dormitories as part of its campus. Hostel rooms are well-furnished and equipped with facilities required for a decent living, including electric heaters and household appliances. 

For eatables, University operates a canteen and a café. Students inserted in cooking their own food can use shared kitchens in the hostel. For new students, the mentoring program is also organized to help them adapt to the living conditions in a Russian city. For the personal safety of students, they are briefed with the safety regulations of the University by the hostel tutor. Therefore, in the University hostel, students don’t face concern over accommodation, food, safety, or any other aspect of living.  

Kursk State Medical University is focused on all-round growth and development of the students and facilitate various extraordinary activities to help students unleash their creative potential. To maintain a healthy lifestyle, students can also join University-maintained gyms and sports club of their choice. 

Throughout the year, various festivals and holidays are celebrated on the campus, including Indian festivals like Diwali, Holi, Navaratri, Eid, and Christmas, New Year, etc. 

The University also promotes arts by organizing exhibitions for paintings and sculptures. For the development of social aspects in students, they are encouraged to participate in community and welfare activities organized by Student Associations. For outdoor recreation, students can explore Kursk city on their off days or during vacation. Thousand years old city is an important cultural and religious enter of Russia and is best known to the world for the famous Battle of Kursk back in 1943. Historical museums, well-crafted buildings, and war memorials are some of the most visited attractions that students can enjoy in the Kursk city.
