The University

Founded in 1944 in Chelyabinsk city of Russia, South Ural State Medical University is one of the prestigious medical universities in Russia. Originally founded as “Chelyabinsk Medical Institute,” the University was renamed to “Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy” in 1995 and finally got its present name in 2012. South Ural State Medical University is a government medical university and has a robust system to deliver quality medical education, research, and clinical training. 

With its quality framework, the University has maintained consistently improved rankings in the list of best medical universities in the Russian Federation. Consistently placed in the list of top 30 Russian universities, South Ural State Medical University is one of the top ten medical universities in Russia and number one in the South Ural region of Russia.

To engage its students in research work, the University maintains various medical labs including Central Research Laboratory and also runs a research institute and consultation center. Scientific Library of the University has a collection of more than 7,00,000 published books and scientific journals and provides access to all the academic resources that students need to expand the horizon of their medical education and carry out their research projects. Inventions resulting from the research work of the University and its students are constantly used by medical centers to produce new medical devices that contribute to better healthcare. 

For a personalized learning experience and to make sure that students develop a proper rapport with their professors, the University maintains an apt student-teacher ratio. Presently, the University has a strong faculty team of 600 professors.

To train students with the help of modern techniques and to sharpen their practical skills, the University provides training in the Practical Skills Training Center aided by medical simulation. Students of South Ural State Medical University are actively involved in the healthcare of the local people and scientific activities coordinated by the Student Scientific Society. For clinical training of the students, South Ural State Medical University runs several clinical bases in the Ural region equipped with high-tech and specialized medical care services.

For keeping students updated with the latest medical research and University progress, the University also publishes a monthly newspaper.  The South Ural State Medical University also takes part in medical affairs at an international level and provide cross-border opportunities for its students and members in collaboration with medical universities and institutions in other countries. 

Presently, over 4,000 students study at South Ural State Medical University, and its graduates are working in Russia as well as foreign countries worldwide.  

South Ural State Medical University is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), United States of America. South Ural State Medical University is also approved by the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) and the Medical Council of India (MCI). The University offers a 6-Year Program for MBBS in Russia for local as well as international medical aspirants. Students in India, who have qualified NEET, can apply for direct admission to the MBBS Program of South Ural State Medical University.

South Ural State Medical University proclaims to be the “University of Healthy Lifestyle,” and well, it is! The University facilitates everything to make its students live a fulfilling, fruitful, and of course, a healthy life. 

To arrange for safe and comfortable accommodation for its students, the University operates five residential buildings. All the dormitories are managed by the University and allotted to students at a very affordable cost.

For the well-being of the students and help them make the best use of their summer holidays, the University has a rehabilitation summer camp which assists students in relieving their stress, engage in recreational activities, relax,  and regain their mental energy so that they can go back to study with a fresh mindset. To organize cultural activities and events, the University has a well-equipped auditorium with a seating capacity of 570. 

To maintain a healthy and fit lifestyle, students can join the University’s gym located on campus. Creative Center of the University organizes activities focused on art and creativity where students can pursue their passions beyond medicine and express themselves. 

For medical care of the students, the University operates its own clinic on the campus where students can get essential healthcare services. In the sports camp, students can join sports clubs and play sports of their choices and maintain an active lifestyle. 

Interested students can also contribute to scientific publications and medical newspapers published by the University. One of the well-established newspapers of the University is "For Public Health," of which University publishes 20 issues every year. 

To provide students a walk through the University’s glorious history and achievements through the decades of its operation, the University has built a Museum of History. 

For the social upliftment and to involve students in community and welfare activities, programs like medical outreach, Blood Donation Camps, etc. are organized throughout the year where students get to engage with local people and develop social as well as healthcare skills. 

Besides, Living in Chelyabinsk city, students enjoy the soviet feel and true Russian hospitality. In Chelyabinsk city, there are plenty of museums, parks, historic sites, and classic theatres that students can enjoy.
