The University

Founded in 1935, Volgograd State Medical University is a high-ranking medical university situated in Volgograd city of Russia. 

From the very beginning of the MBBS Program, University encourages students to participate in research programs, making full use of medical laboratories, participate in scientific seminars, and share their work through University’s publications. The University published a quarterly scientific and practical journal titled “Bulletin of Volgograd State Medical University” and also a newspaper “For Medical Personnel,” which is published monthly and contains important news and updates for students and healthcare professionals.

To make sure that students have access to all the required material for medical studies and research, the University’s library is well-stocked with over 7,00,000 books and internet resources. The University provides broad exposure to clinical training with its wide range of clinical facilities spread across 15 clinics in the city.

The University has also preserved its glorious history, rare medical equipment, and ancient culture with its museum called “Museum of the History of Volgograd State Medical University.” Established more than 35 years ago, today, this museum provides a walkthrough more than eight decades of University’s glory, perseverance, and progress.

The University collaborates with other medical universities and institutions worldwide to facilitate the sharing of resources, carry out international research projects, the advancement of medicine and involve students in all these activities for better learning. Some of the prominent collaborations of the University include joint working with the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

To promote academic excellence among students, well-performing students are honored for their achievements at each stage of the program and also offered discounts in tuition fees.

In 1962, the University started providing medical training to international students. Since 2000, international students are educated in the English medium. Students from over 100 countries have studied at Volgograd State Medical University, facilitating a global community on the campus. Department for International Students of the students provides dedicated support to international students, in academic as well as non-academic affairs. 

Presently, about 6,000 students are studying MBBS at the Volgograd State Medical University. Out of total students, about 15% of students are from foreign countries, including students from India. For a better learning experience, the University maintains an apt student-teacher ratio and has a staff of about 800 highly qualified professors.  

Thanks to international recognition of the University, medical graduates from Volgograd State Medical University can be found working in countries worldwide, including India, the United States, France, and Germany. 

Volgograd State Medical University is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), United States of America. Volgograd State Medical University is also duly approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Medical Council of Canada (MCC). Volgograd State Medical University offers a 6-Year program for MBBS in Russia. Students from India, who have qualified NEET, can apply for direct admission to the MBBS Program of Volgograd State Medical University.

Student Life

Volgograd State Medical University takes the living part of student life as important as education. The University offers everything required to make students' life fruitful and fulfilling. 

Every group of new students is guided by a special professor who provides counseling to make students familiar with the University, entire facilities, Russian culture, and daily student life. To provide safe, comfortable, and affordable accommodation for the students, the University operates three hostels. All the hostels are situated near the University building and clinics, making travel easy for students. 

To help students stay fit and healthy, the University maintains a wide array of sports facilities, including a stadium, sports grounds and gyms, a swimming pool, and a sports camp. To play sports of their choice and participate in competitions, students can join various sports club including Table tennis, Fitness aerobics, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, etc. To celebrate sport spirit, the University also organizes Sports Festival and rewards top players.

For recreation, students can participate in music, drama, theatre, and other extra-curricular and cultural activities organized on campus. At Volgograd State Medical University, diversity is embraced, and different religions, traditions, and festivals are celebrated by the entire community together.

University also organizes day trips to nearby places of tourist attractions and unique vibe of Volgograd.
