Important Preparation Tips for NEET 2020

Hello everyone, we’re almost done with the second month of 2020 which means there are only about 2 months left for the biggest medical examination of the country – NEET 2020, on May 3, 2020.

NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is the most coveted medical examination in India that helps students get admission to undergraduate MBBS/BDS/Ayush and other medical courses.

Till 2019, the Institutes of National Interest like AIIMS and JIPMER conducted their own entrance examinations which will not be the same this year. As per the conditions of National Medical Commission 2019, admission to AIIMS and JIPMER too will be done on the basis of NEET 2020 scores this year.

This implies that the number of seats for admission has increased BUT it also means that the number of students eyeing those seats has also increased by lakhs! Hence, the competition is way tougher this year as against the previous years’. Therefore, it is important that the students rev up their prep game and ensure that they are ready for NEET 2020 to score their highest possible scores.

While each student has their own study pattern, there are some crucial techniques that one must follow to prepare appropriately.

Know the Syllabus Well

As per the NEET examination pattern, the paper is set in pen and paper mode with Multiple Choice Questions. Each question has 4 options with one correct answer. While a correct answer rewards the student 4 positive marks, a wrong answer will result in deduction of one mark. This means that if a candidate doesn’t know the syllabus well, he/she could possibly end up giving some wrong answers which would result in negative marking. Therefore, it is important that the students know their syllabus well along with the marks distribution as per each subject.

Go through NCERT Books completely

It is known well enough that the question paper for NEET is set up based on the syllabus of Class XI and XII. However, students often tend to go through additional study material for extra preparations and end up missing out on the core syllabus from the NCERT textbooks. It is important for students to know that the NCERT course material is set up in the most detailed manner to help students get maximum learning through them. Thus NCERT books must be seen as the gold mine that should not be missed!

Try making short notes on important topics as it will help you in memorizing it easily
Preparing notes is known to have a positive impact on the learning procedure. Students must try to make short notes that would help them to memorize topics easily and even remember them while revising. Notes help students skip the bulk of the books and get straight to the core points.

Extensive Revision before appearing in the exam

One cannot stress enough on the importance of revision! Revision not only helps you go through the course material again, but also helps you find out the loop holes in self-preparation and ways to make it better. Revision is the best way to find your key strengths and weaknesses to help you know what to focus on more.

Try taking as much as Sample papers/Mock Test as these tests will help you in preparing well to take the exam on D-Day
Sample papers and mock tests are an excellent way to prepare for the examination based on the types of questions that often come in the exam. Sample papers and mock tests are set up on the basis of the most common questions asked in the NEET exam. Thus, it is a great way for students to know which topics are tested upon more and which require more attention. Moreover, solving timed sample papers and mock tests also help students manage time well and learn to answer the 180 questions is the time allotted.
